Women's Swimmer of the Week: Kate Fesenko, Indiana, Sr. - Kharkov, Ukraine - Technology Lyceum Nine

Kate Fesenko helped lead Indiana to a season opening 156-144 win at Northwestern on Friday. Fesenko posted individual victories in each of her three events, recording two pool records and a pair of NCAA B cut with stellar performances at backstroke. The Hoosier senior took the 100 back in 53.71 and followed that showing by claiming the 200-back crown in 1:56.10. She closed out the day with a victory in the 100 fly, posting a time of 54.73. Fesenko also swam lead-off backstroke on the winning 200 medley relay, posting a 50-back split of 25.55 as the team finished in 1:44.21.

Women's Diver of the Week: Amanda Lohmann, Michigan, So. - Pittsburg, Pa. - Upper St. Clair

Michigan sophomore Amanda Lohmann swept both diving events to lead the Maize and Blue to victory in Friday's double-dual meet against Toledo and the University of Toronto. The Pittsburg, Pa., native set a career-high in the one-meter dive with a score of 307.50, shattering her previous mark of 296.00, set at last year's Big Ten Championships. She then posted a 325.10 off the three-meter board to claim her second individual title of the day. Both performances were good enough to achieve NCAA qualifying standards. Lohmann  has been Michigan's top diver in both meets this season, as she also won the one-meter and finished second in the three-meter at Notre Dame on October 10. This is the second weekly award for Lohmann's career.

Men's Swimmer of the Week: Titus Knight, Indiana, Jr. - Austin, Texas - James Bowie

Titus Knight picked up wins in each of his three individual events and anchored the winning 200 medley relay team to help lead Indiana to a 167-131 dual meet win at Northwestern on Friday. Knight touched the wall first in the 200 free with a time of 1:39.30. He added a second win with a time of 45.44 in the 100 free, and finished with a winning time of 4:31.12 in the 500 free. Knight closed the meet by anchoring the winning 200 free relay team with a time of 1:22.60. This is the first weekly award for Knight's career.

Men's Diver of the Week:  Frank Van Dijkhuizen, Iowa, Sr. – Amsterdam, Netherlands – Willem Blaeu College

Frank Van Dijkhuizen garners his sixth career weekly laurel and first of the 2009 season, after capturing three top finishes to lead Iowa to a pair of victories over two meets last week. During Friday's double-dual meet against Michigan State and Wisconsin Milwaukee, Van Dijkhuizen posted scores of 319.30 and 379.30 off the one-meter and three-meter boards, respectively, to claim top honors and achieve NCAA qualifying marks in each event. The Amsterdam, Netherlands native then followed that stellar performance by winning the one-meter competition and claiming runner-up honors in the three-meter as Iowa defeated Missouri State 188.5-109.5 on Saturday. The Hawkeye senior bested his previous one-meter mark with a score of 331.95 to champion the event while posting a 313.65 in the three-meter event.
