Wrestler of the Week: Cyler Sanderson, Penn State, Sr., 157, Heber City, Utah/Wasatch

Sanderson, the fifth-ranked 157-pounder in the nation, earns his first Big Ten Wrestler of the Week award after posting a 2-0 mark this past weekend for the Nittany Lions. In his Penn State debut on Saturday versus Lehigh, Sanderson used a late takedown against Sean Bilodeau to clinch a 5-2 victory. On Sunday against Bloomsburg, the senior was part of a top-five showdown against No. 2 Matt Moley, a dual that ended with Sanderson claiming a 3-2 decision and sparking Penn State to a 23-15 victory.

Men's Swimmer of the Week: Andre Schultz, Michigan, Senior - Sao Paulo, Brazil - Colegio Palmares

Senior Andre Schultz led Michigan at the Minnesota Grand Prix over the weekend, winning one event while posting four runner-up finishes. Schultz won the 1,000 freestyle on the first day of competition, hitting the wall in 9:05.01. The senior then earned second-place honors in the 200-yard individual medley (1:46.83), 400-yard individual medley (3:49.66), 100-yard backstroke (48.45) and 200-yard backstroke (1:44.40). He was also part of the third-place finishing 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:01.75). On the weekend, Schultz recorded four individual NCAA consideration B marks, coming in his 200 and 400 individual medleys as well as his performances in the 100 and 200 back. The award marks the second for Schultz's career and his first since Nov. 4, 2008.

Men's Diver of the Week: David Colturi, Purdue, Jr. - Sylvania, Ohio - St. John's Jesuit

Purdue junior David Colturi swept the diving events for the second consecutive meet while helping the Boilermakers defeat Eastern Michigan 223-100 last weekend. Colturi dominated the one-meter event, besting the competition by 71 points with his 358.20 score. He then followed that performance by posting a season-best total of 365.93 to better the three-meter field. Colturi remains unbeaten in all five attempts this season off the one-meter platform while garnering two wins in three tries off the three-meter board. This is the second weekly diving honor for Colturi in as many weeks and his fourth overall. The Sylvania, Ohio, native also collected a pair of weekly awards as a freshman during the 2007-08 season.

Women's Swimmer of the Week: Maggie Meyer, Wisconsin, Jr. - North Oaks, Minn. - White Bear Lake

Maggie Meyer improved her unbeaten streak by four last Friday against Northwestern, adding four more NCAA qualifying marks to go along with each of her wins. The junior led off the Badgers' winning effort in the 200 medley relay, which finished in a pool-record and NCAA consideration time of 1:41.88, and then anchored UW's winning quartet in the 400 free relay, which came home first in an NCAA time of 3:22.51. Individually, Meyer remained unbeaten on the year by winning her 11th and 12th races of the season in dominant fashion. She clocked the nation's fastest time and became the NCAA's first automatic qualifier this season in the 100 backstroke with a pool-record mark of 53.01 to win the event by over three seconds. Meyer followed that by winning the 200 back by a four-second margin in an NCAA consideration time of 1:57.20. Meyer has now won all 12 individual events she has competed in on the year while posting NCAA marks on 10 of those swims.

Women's Diver of the Week: Felicitas Lenz, Northwestern, Fr. - Altadena, Calif. - Polytechnic School

Freshman Felicitas Lenz propelled Northwestern to a comeback 157-143 win over perennial power Wisconsin last week, dominating both platforms to provide the Wildcats crucial diving points in the 14-point victory. The Altadena, Calif., native scored 262.95 and 292.65 in the one and three-meter events, respectively, to claim top honors in each. The Wildcat newcomer then posted a pair of top-two finishes during Saturday's dual-meet victory over Illinois-Chicago, capturing first on the one-meter board (284.78) and second on the three-meter platform (291.00) against the Flames. On the weekend, Lenz recorded three NCAA qualifying marks. This is the first weekly award for Lenz, who returns the diving honor to Evanston, Ill., for the first time since Chelsea Davis accomplished the feat in January of 2006.

Co- Players of the Week: Manny Harris, Michigan, Jr. – G – 6-5, Detroit, Mich. - Redford HS

Manny Harris becomes only the second student-athlete to garner Player of the Week laurels in back-to-back opening weeks (2008-09) after recording his first career triple-double with 18 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists to pace the Wolverines in a 97-50 win over Northern Michigan on Saturday. His performance marked just the second triple-double in the U-M program history and the first since Garry Grant tallied 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists on March 14, 1987, against North Carolina in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Harris' 10 assists marked just the third time in his career the 6-5 guard handed out 10 or more assists in a single contest. The Detroit, Mich., native recorded a career-best 13 helpers against Oakland (Dec. 20, 2008) and had 10 at Ohio State (Jan. 28, 2009). Harris' 13 rebounds marked just the seventh time in his career he has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in a game, while his 18 points completed his 55th career double-figure scoring game in only his 68th collegiate outing. This marks the third weekly award for Harris, who has received Player of the Week accolades in each of his three campaigns with the Maize and Blue.

Last Michigan Player of the Week: DeShawn Sims (Dec. 29, 2008)

Evan Turner, Ohio State, Jr. – G – 6-7, Chicago, Ill. - St. Joseph's

Evan Turner earns a share of the weekly honor after posting his second-consecutive double-double of the season, including a triple-double performance while helping the Buckeyes open the 2009-10 campaign in dominating fashion last week. The junior guard tallied 14 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists in Monday's 100-60 win over Alcorn State – the first triple-double effort in Big Ten annals since Illinois' Sergio McClain accomplished the feat on January 13, 2001. He then followed that performance with a game-high 24 points and 17 rebounds to go along with four assists and two steals against James Madison as OSU downed the Dukes 72-44 in its season-opener. The Chicago native becomes only the second student-athlete in program history to record a triple-double and now owns 13 career double-doubles since donning the Scarlet and Gray.  With his combined 38 points last week, Turner surpassed the 900-point plateau, amassing 923 career points overall. So far this season, Turner has pulled down 34 of the Buckeyes' 90 rebounds and leads the team with 19.0 points, 17.0 rebounds 7.0 assists, FGs made (17) and minutes after two games. This is the fourth weekly laurel for Turner's career after he collected three in 2008-09 as a sophomore.

CO-OFFENSE: Lauren Gibbemeyer, Minnesota, Jr., MB, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin Derham Hall

Gibbemeyer led Minnesota to a pair of road wins against Iowa and Wisconsin over the weekend, pushing the Golden Gophers over the 20-wins mark for the second consecutive year. The junior opened the weekend with 10 kills on .364 hitting, adding two assists, three total blocks and a dig in a sweep over Iowa, picking up her 1,000th career kill in the first set. On Sunday against the Badgers, she put down 14 kills at a .480 clip with a career-high 12 blocks and six digs in another three-set win. For the weekend, Gibbemeyer averaged 4.0 kills on .426 hitting with 2.5 total blocks and 1.2 digs per set. She also became just the sixth player in Minnesota history to register over 1,000 kills and 400 blocks in her career. The weekly honor is the second of Gibbemeyer's career and her first this season.

Blair Brown, Penn State, Jr., OPP, Purcellville, Va./Loudon Valley

Brown led the Penn State offense as the Nittany Lions extended their winning streak to 92 matches with wins against No. 5 Illinois and Northwestern over the weekend. She combined for a team-leading 26 kills (4.33 kps) on a squad-best .524 hitting average, also finishing second on the team with five total blocks (0.83 bps). Brown also contributed four assists, two aces and six digs on the weekend. She opened play against the Illini on Friday by tying her career high with a team-high 17 kills at a .538 clip, also adding two assists, an ace, one block and five digs. The following night against Northwestern, she put down nine kills at a team-best .500 hitting average, tying for second on the squad with four total blocks. The weekly honor is the first of Brown's career.

DEFENSE: Ashley Benson, Indiana, Jr., MB, Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North

Benson helped Indiana to a split with Michigan State and No. 14 Michigan, leading the defense with 1.8 blocks per set, including a career-high 11 stuffs against the Spartans on Friday. The following night, she led the Hoosiers back from a 2-0 deficit against the Wolverines, forcing a fifth set on the strength of nine stuffs, including two solos. Benson ranks among the nation's leaders at the net, improving her season average to 1.13 blocks per set, which is sixth in the Big Ten. On the weekend, the junior also contributed 3.3 kills per set on .365 hitting with five total digs and a service ace. The weekly accolade is the third of Benson's career and her first for a defensive performance.

FRESHMAN: Anna Drewry, Purdue, MB, San Antonio, Texas/Tom C. Clark

Drewry earns Freshman of the Week honors for the second straight week after leading Purdue with 3.0 kills on .524 hitting against No. 14 Michigan and Michigan State over the weekend. Against the Wolverines on Friday, she posted a then-career-best 11 kills on .529 hitting with six blocks and a dig. The following night vs. the Spartans, she improved on her career high with 13 kills at a .524 clip with two stuffs. The double-digit kills performances were her second and third of the season, and she has now hit at or above the .460 mark in each of her last five matches.

CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Kachine Alexander, Iowa, Jr., G, 5-9, Minneapolis, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's

Alexander was named MVP of the KCRG-TV9 Hawkeye Challenge after recording double-doubles against Santa Clara and Illinois State over the weekend. The junior tied a tournament record by grabbing 18 rebounds in the season-opener on Saturday, also netting 19 points. She followed that performance with 21 points and 12 boards in the championship game on Sunday, coming up clutch at the free-throw line, making 13 of 16 from the stripe. On the weekend, Alexander averaged 20 points, 15 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 2.5 steals per game as she tallied the 10th and 11th double-doubles of her career. The weekly award is her third, as she was honored twice last season.

Jantel Lavender, Ohio State, Jr., C, 6-4, Cleveland, Ohio/Central Catholic

Lavender earns her 10th career Player of the Week honor after leading Ohio State to wins over Eastern Illinois and Bowling Green as the Buckeyes advanced to the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT. The Big Ten's Preseason Player of the Year, she recorded her 38th and 39th career double-doubles with 24 points and 13 rebounds on Friday and 23 points and 14 boards on Sunday. For the weekend, Lavender averaged 23.5 points while shooting at 52.9 percent from the floor, also with 13.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest. The junior's 10 career Player of the Week selections is third all-time in the Big Ten.

FRESHMAN: Tayler Hill, Ohio State, G, 5-10, Minneapolis, Minn./South

Hill earns the first-ever Big Ten women's basketball Freshman of the Week award after helping Ohio State advance to the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT with wins over Eastern Illinois and Bowling Green. Hill averaged 14 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists without a turnover, connecting on 57.9 percent of her shots from the field. The freshman had nine points and nine boards in her collegiate debut on Friday before exploding for 19 points, six boards and six assists on Sunday.
