BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 20 Indiana field hockey team ended the home season with a 3-0 win over Pacific on Senior Day, with goals from seniors Meg O'Connell and Haley Funk and freshman Brooke Borneman, all coming in the second half.
The Hoosiers (11-5) dominated offensively in the first half, taking seven shots to just two by the Tigers (3-10), but Pacific's defense held IU scoreless on the half, despite five shots on goal.
In the second half, O'Connell got things rolling for IU, scoring at the 48:37 mark off a corner to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead. With 53:40 on the clock, Borneman netted a goal from the right side of the cage on a pass from O'Connell. Funk sealed the win at the 66:11 mark as she took a pass from redshirt freshman Morgan Fleetwood, who was on the far left side, and took the shot on the right side of the goal.
The Hoosiers dominated on shots, outshooting Pacific, 18-8, and tallied 11 corners to the Tigers' five.
Fleetwood took a team-high six shots and tallied one assist. Funk took three shots and scored one goal. Redshirt sophomore Brenna Moeljadi took three shots, and O'Connell tallied one shot, one goal and one assist. Borneman had one shot and one goal. Senior Mutsa Mutembwa and junior Katie Griswold each tallied one shot. Junior Alex Mann started in goal and recorded three saves in 66:29. Sophomore Becky Pany played in goal in the final 3:31.
IU ended the home season with a 4-1 mark and heads into its final Big Ten game with a 3-2 league record. Indiana wraps up the regular season at Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m. ET in Ann Arbor.
