ROME, Italy. – Indiana University All-American Christina Loukas finished eighth in the three-meter springboard competition Tuesday at the 2009 FINA World Championships.

Loukas finished with 320.20 points, 68 points behind gold medalist Jingjing Guo of China. The reigning NCAA Champion in the event, Loukas was in second place after two dives before scoring 5s on her back 2 1/2 in the third round to drop in the standings. She then came back with the highest scoring dive of the fourth round, picking up 72 points on her reverse 2 1/2.

"I know this is going to make me go home and train even harder for the next time," Loukas told USA Diving.

Loukas concludes her World Championship experience with a pair of top-10 finishes after also placing eighth in the one-meter springboard event.
