NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The University of Iowa men's golf team tied for sixth place, Tuesday, after the final round of the fourth annual Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic.  The Hawkeyes had two golfers finish in the top-15 individually as the black and gold carded a 54-hole total of 885 (+45).  Notre Dame took the 15-team tournament with a score of 870 (+30).  Competition was held on the 7,023-yard Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, IN.

Junior Vince India shined at the Classic yet again as he tied for 10th place with a three round total of 218 (+8).  In his freshman campaign, India tied for eighth place individually at Notre Dame and he tied for 12th last year.

"It was a nice comeback for Vince this week," said Head Coach Mark Hankins.  "After a tough outing at the VCU Shootout, he put in some extra time this week and came out with a great tournament."

Brad Hopfinger shot just one over par in his last round to finish with a total score of 219 (+9).  The junior tied for 14th place.  In his highest finish of the year, Chris Brant tied for 24th.  The sophomore carded a 222 (+12).  Sophomore Barrett Kelpin recorded a 54-hole total of 226 (+16) and tied for 40th.  Additionally, James Reiss finished in 81st place.  In his first tournament since April 2008, the junior carded a 242 (+32).

"We fought hard and played well," add Hankins.  "We didn't make the proper choices down the stretch, but we have two weeks to correct those before the Baylor Intercollegiate."

The Hawkeyes will finish their fall season at the Baylor Intercollegiate Oct. 26-27, in Dallas, Texas.
