GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Senior captain Ashley Bauer and junior Min Yean Tan tied for 24th to lead the Michigan women's golf team to a ninth-place tie (909) with William & Mary on Tuesday at East Carolina's Lady Pirate Intercollegiate.

After posting a first-round 308 on Monday (Oct. 19), senior Andrea Ratigan (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) helped rally U-M, firing back-to-back 75s. Her performance led the Wolverines in their eight-shot improvement (300) in the second round and helped them to a tie for seventh after 36 holes. In today's final round, Tan paced the way with a one-over 72, while Ashley Bauer and sophomore Meagan Bauer (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc HS) each had 75s to give U-M a 301.

Three shots separated four of the five U-M starters, as a total seven rounds of 75 were posted for the Maize and Blue. With Bauer tying Tan for the team lead, it marks the ninth straight event that the senior captain has led the Wolverines in the individual standings. Along the way, Ashley Bauer opened with a 76 and followed with back-to-back rounds of 75 for a 226 total, while Tan descended each of her rounds at 79, 75 and 72 for her 226.

For the third time this season, Meagan Bauer erased her career best for a 54-hole event as she posted a new best of 228 (78-75-75) to tie for 29th. In her best performance in almost two seasons, Ratigan closed with her fourth career sub-230 event total, posting a 229 with rounds of 75, 75 and 79. Junior Katelin Davis (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) rounded out U-M's starting five, tying for 71st at 243 (79-82-82), while junior Louisa Shu (West Bloomfield, Mich./Birmingham Seaholm) saw her first tournament action of the season, playing as an individual, where she tied for 52nd at 235 (78-82-75).

With only one fall event remaining, the Wolverines will close the first half of the year heading in Austin, Texas, for the 2009 Challenge at Onion Creek. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Texas State, will be played at the Onion Creek Country Club.
