WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue assistant coach Kelly Phillips was named the head coach of the women's track and field program at Miami University on Thursday. Phillips has been responsible for the women's distance and cross country runners at Purdue for the last four seasons.

"I am extremely happy for Coach Phillips," said Purdue head track and field and cross country coach Jack Warner. "We owe a lot of thanks to Coach Phillips for all her efforts in improving our women's distance area. Miami is getting a quality coach and a quality person, who brings a lot of energy and a tremendous work ethic in her new position. I can speak for the whole staff and team when I say that we are going to miss her and we all wish her the best of luck."

Phillips helped produce several solid performers in her time at Purdue, including track and field conference scorers Ashlee Lengacher and Nan Hammel, and cross country standouts Katie Morrical and Kristin Phillips. Lengacher, Hammel and Phillips all qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships over the past two seasons, while Morrical and Phillips notched some of the top cross country times in school history.
