CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Michigan State women's soccer team fell to Illinois, 5-0, on Friday (Oct. 30) in Champaign, Ill. With the loss, MSU fell to 9-4-4 overall and 2-4-2 in the Big Ten, while the Illini improved to 7-7-3 and 2-4-2 in conference play.
Illinois' Jenna Carosio set the tone of the game early, scoring the first goal in the 10th minute. Laura Knutson added another in the 21st minute and Niki Read scored just over three minutes later to make it 3-0. Christina Sahly made it 4-0 just before the half.
The Fighting Illini outshot MSU, 17-12, for the game. Lauren Hill led the Spartans with three shots.
