CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Purdue wrestling team opened Sunday's Ohio road trip with a 30-15 victory at the College of Mount Saint Joseph (MSJ). The Boilermakers claimed seven of the 10 matches on the day, scoring one fall and a trio of technical falls.

The Boilermakers dug themselves a hole early, forfeiting 125 and surrendering a fall at 141 pounds to give MSJ a 12-6 lead. Freshman Jake Fleckenstein kept Purdue going at 133 pounds, scoring his first fall of the year in the last five seconds of his match with MSJ freshman Nathan Harmon. Fleckenstein dominated the match, racking up six straight takedowns and planting Harmon on the seventh for the pin. At 141 pounds, sophomore Juan Archuleta led early for the Boilermakers, taking down MSJ junior Eric Meyer to his back early and nearly scoring a pin. However, Meyer managed to squirm off his shoulder blades and mimicked Archuleta's early move and finished the match at the 3:35 mark.

The two squads traded decisions at 149 and 157 pounds, as Purdue junior Matt Redmond captured a 9-3 win over sophomore Dave Harris at 149, and MSJ junior Bryan Massong edged Purdue sophomore Colton Salazar, 6-5.

The Boilermakers finally grabbed control of the match at 165 pounds as junior Jason Martin posted the first of five straight victories to close out the contest. Martin tallied a pair of takedowns en route to a 6-1 decision, and classmate Nick Corpe followed with a 19-4 technical fall at 174 pounds. Corpe put on a takedown clinic, dragging down freshman Nick Terry six times. Sophomore A.J. Kissel narrowly missed a major decision at 184 pounds, toppling senior Chad Craft, 11-4, and fellow second-year Logan Brown and junior Chris Kasten rolled up consecutive technical falls to wrap up the competition. Brown needed 6:24 to surmount a 16-1 win, while Kasten pushed the count to 16-0 in just four minutes.

Purdue jumps back into action tonight at 8 p.m. as the Boilermakers head north to Cleveland to face Notre Dame College. Please visit purduesports.com for live results.
