Northwestern took a 10-8 advantage on an early layup by junior Amy Jaeschke (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) and never relinquished the lead, defeating Southern Illinois-Edwardsville 68-37 Friday evening at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
 
Purdue routs Seattle University
Sophomore guard Brittany Rayburn scored a career-high 26 points, while sophomore Chelsea Jones finished with a career-high 12 points to help lead No. 23 Purdue (2-0) past Seattle University 69-38.

Iowa junior Kachine Alexander will be sidelined for approximately one month with a stress fracture in her right leg. Head Coach Lisa Bluder made the announcement Friday.

Samantha Prahalis had 14 points and 12 assists, and No. 3 Ohio State scored the first 17 points to roll past West Virginia 92-69 Thursday night in the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT.

Ashley Barlow scored 18 points and hit a tiebreaking free throw with 10 seconds left, lifting No. 5 Notre Dame to a 68-67 victory over No. 21 Michigan State on Thursday night.
 
Illinois wins second straight, beats CMU
The Fighting Illini women's basketball team cruised to their second straight win Wednesday night at Assembly Hall, topping Central Michigan 77-59.
